Description
Smeal Holding LLC (Smeal) is recalling certain 2017-2019 Aerial Fire Apparatus vehicles. The tube steel used in the base rail of the aerial device may be missing joint welds, which may cause the aerial device to become unsteady and possibly collapse.
Injuries / Consequence
The aerial device may collapse increasing the risk of injury.
Remedy
Smeal has notified owners, and dealers will inspect the aerial devices, replacing any sections with missing welds, free of charge. The recall began May 13, 2019. Owners may contact Smeal customer service at 1-800-867-6478. Smeal's number for this recall is 1911.
