Description
CERTAIN CARRIER AIR CONDITIONER MOUNTING BRACKET KITS MANUFACTURED BETWEEN JANUARY 1 AND SEPTEMBER 1, 2004, P/N 86-62400-00. THESE KITS ARE DESIGNED FOR USE ON CERTAIN FORD E-SERIES CHASSIS WITH 6.0L DIESEL ENGINES. THE WELDMENT CAN BREAK OR FALL OFF.
Injuries / Consequence
IF THE WELDMENT BREAKS OR FALLS OFF, THE CARRIER SUPPLIED COMPRESSOR AND FORD ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT VACUUM PUMP COULD SHIFT CAUSING THE MISALIGNMENT AND EVENTUAL LOSS OF THE DRIVE BELT WHICH COULD EVENTUALLY LEAD TO THE LOSS OF THE PRIMARY BRAKING SYSTEM, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN A VEHICLE CRASH.
Remedy
CARRIER WILL NOTIFY CUSTOMERS AND INSPECT THE WELDMENTS FOR CRACKING AND REPLACE THE WELDMENT AS NECESSARY, FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON APRIL 22, 2005. OWNERS MAY CONTACT CARRIER SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT 1-800-450-2211.
