EQUIPMENT DESCRIPTION: TAILLAMP WITH CLEAR LENS ASSEMBLIES WHICH WERE NOT MANUFACTURED WITH SIDE REFLEX REFLECTORS AND SIDE MARKER LAMPS AS REQUIRED UNDER FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 108, "LAMPS, REFLECTIVE DEVICES, AND ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT."
Injuries / Consequence
WITHOUT THE REFLECTIVE DEVICES REQUIRED UNDER FMVSS NO. 108 IN THE TAILLAMP ASSEMBLY, THE MOTORIST MAY NOT BE CLEARLY VISIBLE TO OTHER MOTORISTS, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN A VEHICLE CRASH.
Remedy
AMERICAN PRODUCTS COMPANY (APC) WILL NOTIFY ITS CUSTOMERS TO RETURN THE NON-COMPLYING TAIL LAMPS TO THEM FOR A REPLACEMENT FREE OF CHARGE. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN JANUARY 7, 2002. OWNERS WHO ATTEMPT TO HAVE THEIR TAIL LAMPS REPLACED ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT APC AT 1-310-407-4538.
