Axle Sleeve Weld May Crack

Description

Hendrickson USA. L.L.C. (Hendrickson) is recalling certain Bridge Axles, part number B5R13X-04B, manufactured December 7, 2015, to January 11, 2016. The affected bridge axles have tube sleeves that may crack along the seam welds.

Injuries / Consequence

If one tube sleeve cracks, vehicle handling may be affected. If both tube sleeves crack, the bridge axle may detach from the vehicle. Either condition increases the risk of a crash.

Hendrickson notified the one vehicle manufacturer that purchased the affected axles on May 24, 2016. That manufacturer is replacing the axles under recall 16V-421, free of charge.
