Baby's Bucket-Sorting Toys Recalled Due To Potential Choking Hazards

May 17, 1994 Release # 94-075 PRODUCT: Approximately 5,000 "Baby's Bucket-Sorting Toys," model 3848 by Davis Brothers Wholesalers, Inc. The toy is a 17-1/4 inch round bucket with handle and nine different shaped sorting pieces. Four of the nine sorting pieces (square, hexagon, triangle, and circle) have a small animal figure attached to each top. The sorting pieces fit through corresponding cut-out shapes in the bucket's yellow lid. The label on the box in part reads: "MADISON LTD., HACKENSACK, NJ, ....MADE IN CHINA." The toy was sold nationwide at discount and toy stores from March 1993 through February 1994. PROBLEM: The small animal figures attached to the top of the square, hexagon, triangle, and circle sorting pieces can come off and choke a young child. WHAT TO DO: Immediately take the toys away from young children and return them to the place of purchase for a refund. WASHINGTON, DC -- In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Davis Brothers Wholesalers, Inc., Hackensack, New Jersey, (AKA Madison Ltd) is voluntarily recalling 5,000 "Baby's Bucket-Sorting Toys," model number 3848. During routine CPSC testing, small animal figures attached to the top of the square, hexagon, triangle, and circle sorting pieces came off and could choke a young child. The Baby's Bucket-Sorting Toy is a 17-1/4 inch round bucket with handle and nine different shaped sorting pieces. Four of the nine sorting pieces (square, hexagon, triangle, and circle) have small animal figures attached to the tops. The sorting pieces fit through cut-out shapes in the bucket's yellow lid. The label on the box in part reads: "MADISON LTD., HACKENSACK, NJ, . . . MADE IN CHINA." The toys were sold nationwide at discount and toy stores from March 1993 through February 1994. The toy ranged in price from $2.00 to $3.00 each. Consumers are urged to immediately take the toys away from young children and return them to the stores where purchased for a refund. This voluntary recall is being conducted to prevent the possibility of injury. The potentially hazardous toy was referred to CPSC by the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection.
