BRAKES:AIR RESERVOIRS (TANKS)

Recalled: October 12, 1979 ~67 units affected 77V148

Description

THE INVOLVED VEHICLES FAIL TO CONFORM TO FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 121, "AIR BRAKE SYSTEMS", IN THAT A 3/8-INCH DIAMETER RED SYNFLEX TUBING WAS INCORRECTLY INSTALLED. THE TUBING MAY HAVE BEEN INSTALLED SO THAT THE TWO AIR RESERVOIRS ARE DIRECTLY CONNECTED AND BOTH RESERVOIRS WOULD BE AFFECTED IF SERVICE BRAKE AIR PRESSURE IS LOST. REDUCED AIR PRESSURE IN BOTH RESERVOIRS WILL NOT ALLOW THE PARKING BRAKES TO BE COMPLETEY RELEASED.

Remedy

DEALER WILL REROUTE THE TUBING TO COMPLY WITH THE SAFETY STANDARD, AT NO CHARGE TO OWNER.
