Description

THIS IS NOT A SAFETY RECALL IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE SAFETY ACT. HOWEVER, IT IS DEEMED A SAFETY IMPROVEMENT CAMPAIGN BY THE AGENCY. EQUIPMENT DESCRIPTION: CONTINENTAL CONTITRAC AS TIRES, SIZE P245/75R16, DOT SERIAL NUMBERS: AD70 449 017 THROUGH AD70 449 118, INSTALLED ON THE 1998 AND 1999 LINCOLN NAVIGATOR VEHICLES. THESE TIRES SHOW CONDITIONS OF TREAD CHUNKING, TREAD BUBBLING, AND BELT LIFT DUE TO HEAT STRESS WHICH CAN CAUSE A SECTION OF THE TREAD BELT PACKAGE TO DETACH FROM THE TIRE CASING AND MINOR VEHICLE BODY DAMAGE COULD RESULT.

Remedy

DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE TIRES AND, IF NECESSARY, REPLACE THEM, FREE OF CHARGE, INCLUDING MOUNTING AND BALANCING.
