Counterbalance Valve Crack may Allow Boom Movement

Description

Altec Industries Inc. (Altec) is recalling certain model year 2014 Aerial Devices manufactured April 1, 2014, to July 18, 2014, and equipped with certain SUN Hydraulics Corporation counterbalance valves. In the affected vehicles, the counterbalance valve may crack, allowing hydraulic fluid to leak, and possibly result in boom movement.

Injuries / Consequence

Unintended boom movement of the aerial device increases the operator's risk of injury.

Remedy

Altec will notify owners, and dealers will replace the counterbalance valves, free of charge. The recall began on May 12, 2015. Owners may contact Altec customer service at 1-877-462-5832. Altec's number for this recall is CSN 614.
