Description

ON CERTAIN SWEEPERS EQUIPPED WITH COMPRESSED NATURAL GAS (CNG), SWEEPING DEBRIS MAY BUILD UP IN FRONT OF THE REAR AXLE AND IN THE EXHAUST DISCHARGE PIPE. UNDER HEAVY SWEEPING CONDITIONS, THE CNG EXHAUST TEMPERATURES CAN EXCEED 800 DEGREES.

Injuries / Consequence

THE EXHAUST TEMPERATURE COULD IGNITE THE DEBRIS. PERSONNEL NEAR THE STREET SWEEPER COULD BE INJURED OR PROPERTY DAMAGE COULD OCCUR.

Remedy

ELGIN WILL INSTALL A NEW EXHAUST SYSTEM IN THESE VEHICLES THAT WILL REDIRECT THE EXHAUST DISCHARGE AWAY FROM THE ELEVATOR SYSTEM AND DEBRIS. THE RECALL BEGAN ON FEBRUARY 1, 2008. OWNERS MAY CONTACT ELGIN AT 1-877-342-5374.
