Description

ON CERTAIN UTILITY SERVICE TRUCK CHASSIS EQUIPPED WITH ALTEC ELECTRIC HYDRAULIC MANUAL UTILITY BRAKE CONTROL, THE UNITS EXPERIENCE LOSS OF BRAKES DURING AND INTERFERENCE BETWEEN THE WINDSHIELD WIPER DRIVE ARM AND BRAKE LINE THAT RUNS BETWEEN THE CHASSIS MASTER CYLINDER AND BRAKE CONTROL INSIDE THE CAB.

Injuries / Consequence

THIS INTERFERENCE CAN CAUSE THE BRAKE LINE TO RUPTURE. SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH CAN RESULT FROM IMPAIRMENT OR FAILURE OF THE VEHICLE BRAKES.

Remedy

DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE WIPER LINKAGE INTERFERENCE, AND REPLACE THE NECESSARY PARTS FREE OF CHARGE. THIS RECALL ONLY INVOLVED ONE CUSTOMER. THE RECALL BEGAN ON APRIL 15, 2005. OWNERS MAY CONTACT ALTEC AT 919-528-2535.
