Description

DETROIT DIESEL SERIES 40 TURBOCHARGERS MANUFACTURED FROM JANUARY 1, 1997 THROUGH AUGUST 4, 2002. THE TURBOCHARGER CAN FAIL, ALLOWING LUBRICATING OIL TO SPILL ONTO THE ENGINE.

Injuries / Consequence

THIS CAN RESULT IN A FIRE IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN PERSONAL INJURY.

Remedy

DETROIT DIESEL WILL NOTIFY ITS CUSTOMERS AND INSPECT AND REPLACE THE TURBOCHARGER FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN SEPTEMBER 17, 2004. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT DDC AT 313-592-3708.
