FLEETWOOD/BATTERY DISCONNECT SWITCH

Recalled: March 25, 2002 ~123 units affected 02V069

Description

THESE MOTOR HOMES ARE WIRED IN SUCH A MANNER THAT THE VEHICLE OPERATOR MUST ENSURE THAT THE BATTERY DISCONNECT SWITCH IS IN THE "USE" POSITION TO ACTIVATE REAR CAP TAIL LAMPS, STOP LAMPS, BACKUP LAMPS, TURN SIGNAL LAMPS, AND CLEARANCE LAMPS.

Injuries / Consequence

OPERATION OF THE MOTOR HOME WITHOUT THESE LAMPS MAKES THE MOTOR HOME LESS VISIBLE AND DOES NOT SIGNAL TURN, BACKUP, OR BRAKING ACTIONS OF THE MOTOR HOME, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.

Remedy

DEALERS WILL REWIRE THE MOTOR HOME SO THAT THE AFFECTED REAR CAP LAMPS REMAIN ENERGIZED WHENEVER THE CHASSIS ENGINE IS RUNNING. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN MARCH 18, 2002. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT FLEETWOOD AT 1-800-322-8216.
