Description

CERTAIN COMBI USA AVATAR CONVERTIBLE CHILD RESTRAINTS, MODEL NO. 8100. IN A VEHICLE CRASH, THE LATCH LOWER ANCHORAGE BELT ASSEMBLY CAN FAIL AND SEPARATE WHEN USED IN THE REAR-FACING MODE. THESE SEATS FAIL TO CONFORM TO FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 213, CHILD RESTRAINT SYSTEMS.

Injuries / Consequence

SHOULD THE LATCH FAIL IN A VEHICLE CRASH, THE CHILD COULD BE SERIOUSLY INJURED.

Remedy

COMBI WILL NOTIFY ITS CUSTOMERS AND PROVIDE A FREE REPAIR KIT. IN THE MEANWHILE, COMBI USA IS INSTRUCTING THE OWNERS TO ONLY USE THE SEAT WITH THE LAP BELT. THE RECALL BEGAN ON JULY, 14, 2005. OWNERS MAY CONTACT COMBI AT 1-800-992-6624.
