Front Axle Spindle may Fracture
Description
Timoney Technology (Timoney) is recalling certain Mark 1 and Gen 2 Independent Front Suspensions (IFS). Inconsistent machining may result in fatigue cracks developing over time in the front axle spindles, causing failure of the spindle and the possible separation of a front wheel from the vehicle.
Injuries / Consequence
If a wheel separates from the vehicle, it can increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Timoney will notify the vehicle manufacturers that purchased the affected suspensions, and those manufacturers will conduct recalls of their own with their dealers replacing the front axle spindle, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin April 2018.
