Ignition Switch may Turn Off
Description
Alpha Technology Corp (Alpha) is recalling certain mechanical key ignition switch systems, part number FOJ57 00000. Over time, weight on the key ring and road conditions or some other jarring event may cause the ignition switch to move out of the RUN position into the ACCESSORY position, turning off the engine.
Injuries / Consequence
The vehicle stall from the engine turning off could increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Alpha has notified the affected vehicle manufacturers. If those manufacturers determine that the switches create a safety risk in their vehicles, they will notify their owners and replace the switch, free of charge.
