Incorrect Side Marker Lights/FMVSS 108

Recalled: January 26, 2026 ~79 units affected 26E005

Description

Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain rear combination light assemblies, with part numbers 81561-42290 and 81551-42290, sold as replacement parts for Toyota bZ4X vehicles. The rear combination light assemblies may be equipped with a side marker reflector instead of a side marker light. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."

Injuries / Consequence

Without the correct lights, it may be difficult for other road users to see the vehicle from the rear or side, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy

Dealers will inspect and replace the rear combination light assemblies as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed March 10, 2026. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's numbers for this recall are 26TK01 and 26TH01.
