INTERNATIONAL/REAR AIR SUSPENSION

Recalled: February 27, 2002 ~1,442 units affected 02V054

Description

ON CERTAIN HEAVY DUTY TRUCKS EQUIPPED WITH IROS REAR AIR SUSPENSIONS, DURING ASSEMBLY, FOUR BOLTS AND NUTS HOLDING THE MAIN SUPPORT MEMBER BUSHING BAR PINS TO THE MAIN SUPPORT MEMBER HANGERS WERE INCORRECTLY TIGHTENED.

Injuries / Consequence

THE NUTS COULD WORK LOOSE OR FALL OFF ALLOWING THE BOLTS TO FATIGUE AND FAIL THE CONNECTION BETWEEN A MAIN SUPPORT MEMBER BUSHING AND FRAME HANGER. SEPARATION OF THE MAIN SUPPORT MEMBER ASSEMBLY FROM THE FRAME MOUNTED HANGER BRACKET COULD RESULT INCREASING THE RISK OF SUDDEN LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE.

Remedy

DEALERS WILL INSTALL FOUR NEW NUTS AND BOLTS AND TIGHTEN TO SPECIFICATION. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN MARCH 15, 2002. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT INTERNATIONAL AT 1-800-448-7825.
