Description

ON CERTAIN TRUCKS, THE POSITIVE BATTERY CABLES THAT SUPPLY POWER FROM THE BATTERIES TO THE STARTER MAY BE ROUTED NEAR THE ENGINE'S EXHAUST MANIFOLD. THE EXCESS HEAT GENERATED BY THE MANIFOLD CAN CAUSE THE CABLE'S INSULATION TO MELT, EXPOSING BARE WIRE.

Injuries / Consequence

THIS CONDITION MAY CAUSE AN ELECTRICAL SHORT OR A FIRE, WHICH CAN RESULT IN PROPERTY DAMAGE, PERSONAL INJURY OR DEATH.

Remedy

DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE BATTERY CABLES AND REPLACE THEM IF NECESSARY AND REROUTE THEM AWAY FROM THE ENGINE EXHAUST MANIFOLD FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON FEBRUARY 22, 2008. OWNERS MAY CONTACT INTERNATIONAL AT 1-800-448-7825.
