Description

Continental Automotive Systems, Inc. (Continental Automotive) is recalling certain Hydraulic Electronic MKC1 brake units, with part numbers 10-1202 and 25-1202. A deviation in the welding process can cause the Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) rotor and shaft to separate, which may cause a reduction of braking assist, and a loss of ABS.

Injuries / Consequence

A loss of braking assistance and ABS functionality can reduce overall braking performance, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy

Continental Automotive will work with the affected vehicle manufacturers to provide a remedy through their dealership networks. The manufacturer has not yet provided a schedule for recall notification. Owners may contact Continental Automotive customer service at 1-248-393-5300.
