Description

THE PINCH BOLT USED TO RETAIN THE PITMAN ARM TO THE STEERING GEAR MAY NOT MEET THE HEAT TREAT SPECIFICATION FOR A GRADE 8 FASTENER AND MAY STRIP BEFORE PROPER TORQUE IS ACHIEVED.

Injuries / Consequence

THE PINCH BOLT MAY FAIL CAUSING SEPARATION OF THE PITMANARM AND THE STEERING LINKAGE, AND LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL WHICH COULD RESULTIN AN ACCIDENT.

Remedy

REPLACE THE PINCH BOLTS WITH PROPERLY HEAT TREATED BOLTS.
