Description
Yakima Products, Inc. (Yakima) is recalling certain SpareTime, two bike, rack systems, part number 8002598, manufactured from November 1, 2011, through October 30, 2012. These racks are for use on vehicles with a rear hatch door mounted spare tire system. The affected bike racks have mounting bolts that may break.
Injuries / Consequence
If the mounting bolts break, the bike rack may fall from the vehicle, possibly becoming a road hazard to other vehicles or causing injury to pedestrians.
Remedy
Yakima will notify owners and mail replacement bolts with instructions to owners, free of charge. The safety recall began on February 22, 2013. Owners may contact Yakima at 1-888-925-4621.
