Q-Tower Roof Rack may Detach Unexpectedly

Description

Yakima Products, Inc. (Yakima) is recalling certain Q-Tower Roof Racks, part numbers 8000124 and 8000135, manufactured January 26, 2015, to May 26, 2015, and Q-Tower Stripped Replacement towers, part number 8880048, manufactured April 1, 2015, to April 15, 2015. The affected roof racks have crossbar clamping wedges that may slide on the crossbars during the installation process, causing the rack to have a loose fit on the vehicle.

Injuries / Consequence

A rack that does not snugly fit the roof may eject from the vehicle while it is in motion increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.

Remedy

Yakima will notify owners and will provide owners with proper crossbar clamping wedges, free of charge. The recall began on June 17, 2015. Owners may contact Yakima customer service at 1-888-266-3085 or email them at [email protected].
