Description

PIERCE IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2009-2010 FIRE TRUCKS MANUFACTURED FROM AUGUST 13, 2009 THROUGH JUNE 30, 2010. THESE VEHICLES MAY HAVE BEEN MANUFACTURED WITH EXCESSIVE PAINT ON THE STEEL WHEEL MOUNTING SURFACES. THE EXCESSIVE PAINT MAY CAUSE THE WHEEL LUG NUTS TO LOSE CLAMP LOAD, LOOSEN AND FALL OFF.

Injuries / Consequence

EVENTUALLY THE WHEEL(S) COULD SEPARATE FROM THE VEHICLE AND CAUSE A CRASH.

Remedy

DEALERS WILL CHECK THE WHEEL NUT TORQUE AND TIGHTEN THE LUG NUTS TO THE RECOMMENDED TORQUE AS SPECIFIED IN THE PIERCE CUSTOM CHASSIS AND MAINTENANCE MANUAL. THIS SERVICE WILL BE PERFORMED FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING AUGUST 2010. OWNERS MAY CONTACT PIERCE CUSTOMER SERVICE AT 1-888-974-3723.
