Description

THE UPPER STEERING SHAFT AND THE STEERING COLUMN WITH A TELESCOPING FUNCTION ARE RETAINED BY A STEEL BALL TRAVELING IN A MACHINED GROOVE. THE STEEL BALL WAS OMITTED, ALLOWING THE EXTENSION OF THE STEERING COLUMN TO CONTINUE UNTIL THE STEERING SHAFT DISENGAGES FROM THE STEERING COLUMN.

Injuries / Consequence

IF THE STEEL TELESCOPE STOP BALL WAS OMITTED ANDDISENGAGEMENT OF THE STEERING SHAFT TO THE STEERING COLUMN OCCURS, COMPLETE LOSSOF STEERING MAY RESULT, WHICH MAY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.

Remedy

AN INSPECTION OF THE STEERING COLUMN WILL BE MADE TO SEE IF THE TELESCOPE BALL WAS OMITTED. THE ENTIRE COLUMN WILL BE REMOVED AND A NEW PRODUCTION COLUMN WILL BE INSTALLED IF THE BALL IS MISSING.
