Description

INSUFFICIENT TORQUING OF BOLTS ON THE CLAMPS USED TO SECURE ADJOINING SECTIONS OF THE EXHAUST SYSTEM CAN CAUSE THE SECTIONS TO SEPARATE FROM THE CLAMPS, AND CAN ALLOW EXHAUST GAS TO LEAK UNDER THE VEHICLE.

Injuries / Consequence

IF THE EXHAUST SYSTEM SEPARATES UNDER AN OPERATING VEHICLE, EXHAUST GAS CAN MIGRATIE INTO THE INTERIOR OF THE BUS.

Remedy

DEALERS WILL INSPECT ALL EXHAUST SYSTEM CLAMPS TO ASSURE THEY ARE PROPERLY SECURED. UNTIL THE BUSES ARE INSPECTED AND REPAIRED, THEY SHOULD ONLY BE OPERATED WITH ADEQUATE OUTSIDE VENTILATION.
