REAR AXLE HOUSING BRAKE CONNECTOR JOINT

Description

ON CERTAIN TRUCKS, AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF WELD MATERIAL MAY BE PRESENT ON THE REAR AXLE HOUSING AT THE JOINT RETAINER. THE CLEARANCE BETWEEN THE JOINT RETAINER AND BRAKE CONNECTOR MAY BE BEYOND SPECIFICATION AND COULD CAUSE THE ATTACHING BOLT TO LOOSEN ALLOWING THE BRAKE PIPE TO VIBRATE.

Injuries / Consequence

THE BRAKE PIPE COULD CRACK, ALLOWING BRAKE FLUID TO LEAK, DECREASING BRAKING PERFORMANCE AND CAUSING A CRASH WITHOUT WARNING.

Remedy

DEALERS WILL INSPECT AND REMOVE EXCESSIVE WELD MATERIAL AND REPAIR FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON JUNE 14, 2006. OWNERS MAY CONTACT MITSUBISHI FUSO AT 856-467-3917.
